Thanks Everyone!
***update*** they will not make us go outside. good news!
Everyone,
I am at Odom Elementary in Austin Texas, Precinct 447. Over 400 people were here at 7:30 for the caucus. There are still over 150 people waiting to sign, an untold number of people have left already, I am not sure who has left out of frustration, but it has to be scores.
They are talking about closing the school at 11:00 and kicking everyone out. At that point we may just move the caucus outside.
Please understand that we have not yet finished signing, and the caucus has yet to begin.
Also, someone here has the Hillary headquarters on the line and who knows what they are talking about. I would imagine some of what is going on here will be used against Texas when the Hillary team decides to contest the Texas election laws.
UPDATE!!!!
FINALLY! 2 FUCKING SHEETS at a time. Both campaigns are going to oversee to make sure t stays fair.
People, we are gonna be outta here shortly!
There is a form that people have been asked to sign. Apparently someone from the Clinton legal team has been calling and people who are leaving without signing are being asked to sign a contest form.
In short, Texas is still fluid, and we will not know for hours yet how Texas will pan out. We are sending 41 delegates from this district, so don't count us out until we are done!
I will be updating this diary as more happens.
So the basic thing here is that tonight has been totally disorganized. I like the temp precinct chair is a nice enough guy, but leadership has been lacking. There are a lot of first time caucus-goers here tonight, and everyone running this thing is overwhelmed. Apparently there were only 10 people here in the 2004 Primary, so you can imagine what they must be thinking.
WE NEED EXPOSURE HERE. This is getting absurd, no one running this thing knows what the hell they are doing. They expected 30-40 people and got 400. The line is moving absurdly slow, and we not be out of here before midnight or later.
More News:
Earlier tonight a woman had some kind of panic attack and the paramedics had to come. She was having trouble breathing, and got sick.
The lines were shifted around several times as order was being established. It is apparent that everyone here was overwhelmed, but they were doing thier best. Sure I am frustrated, but I don't want this event to become fodder. Please understand that everyone here has been doing what they know to do and there is nothing that appears intentional, just unfortunate.
**Update** We are down to the last signer. I wish I could stay, but people, 4 hours of this and I gotta run in bit. I will wait to see what the delegate counts are before I go though.
I got to sign, and place a vote to Obama. My table looked like it was breaking for Obama, but who knows about the rest of it...We just gave a big round of applause.
